Decisions about the application

I wanted to further my education in the best possible way – standards at Oxbridge the best in the country.

Oxford did a course nearest to my subject area

Reputation and quality of teaching/university life (plus it looked like something from Harry Potter!)

Practise interviews and help with section 11 (of the UCAS form, presumably – moderator)

The interview: Just read around your subject – I did it on the train – as long as you know your subject and you have enthusiasm for it you can easily contribute to a interview discussion.

It was the best work I had, and it was analytically marked by my teacher.

I had one interview for about 20 mins. I gave a short presentation explaining why I wanted to take the course, followed by a discussion leading from the content of this. Then I was shown an ancient object to analyse (not as scary as it sounds- the tutors helped a lot!).

All concerned my subject; about the political thoughts behind the writings of Livy, Horace etc. Once again not as worrying as it sounds – its just a casual talk – they never try to trick you – they even help you all they can.

Suit – BUT this was NOT necessary. In the previous meeting we all wore jeans etc. The tutors said we should come to the interview in this. So although I did wear a suit this is NOT strictly necessary.

My college was fantastic. The rooms were huge with en suite facilities. The catered meals were also brilliant. However this is not so with all Oxford Colleges. I visited St Hughs wear my friend was staying. Here the rooms were tiny and very poorly maintained.

Silver service in the evening!!!!!!!!!!!

Very friendly and helpful

Quite nice, although some were a bit odd…….. but hey.

Final stage

I was pleased 😛

Looking back

Definately – it was quite stressful but I enjoyed the interview days so much – it would have been an experience even if I hadn’t get an offer.

Just apply and try your best, no-one can ask more than that.
