Decisions about the application
As well as the world class reputation and facilities I felt what i wanted to gain from a degree would be provided by an Oxbridge teaching environment. With the supervision/tutorial system there is a system which allows for constant assesment and makes you think independently. Something I wated out of a degree.
Well I went to a summer school in Oxford for Mathematics and this really showed me what life there was like wha tthe city was like and i really enjoyed it so i chose to apply there.
Well of my A level I found Economics the most interesting so I wanted to study that. Furthermore the way in which the management was incoorpporated in this course i feel made it more enjoyable and allowed for relation to a real world situation with units such as marketing and employment relations.
Well there were certain criteria I first thought of which my college must have. They were that it had to be a big college as well as a central one. Wadham ticked all the boxes and after iwent for a visit i really like it.
Various meetings,mock interviews etc.
I had to sit the TSA a couple of weeks before the interview period. The TSA is basically an aptitude test which tests Critical Thinking, Lateral thinking, mathematical and spatial awareness skills.
I didn’t have a general interview there was maybe two minutes at the end of each interview which wasa bit general.
I had spent a lot of time preparing for the interviews thinking what they would ask. NOTHING I THOUGHT OF CAME UP. They try to test you on things you don’t know to see how you would react and if they did notice i knew something they would quickly move on. However by the end of the interviews I found myself enjoying the discussions and new topics and not wanting it to end.
I had three. To my first one i wore jeans and a jumper and to my other two I wore soft pants and a shirt.
I was interviewed at Wadham and Jesus. I really like both colleges and fell in love with the architecture of Wadham.
Fairly big. A lot bigger than any other universities i had visited.
Very nice. They are not trying to trick you but only trying to see what you can do.
Very nice. It wasn’t too hard to make friends because remember everyone is in the same position.
I was very nervous because not all my interviews were perfect. However the wait wasn’t to long and I had convinced myself whatever the outcome I would be happy with my effort.
I WAS VERY HAPPY MY MUM WAS SCREAMING.
Read around your subject. You probably won’t know the exact answers to everything you’re asked but having read something similar will help. Enjoy the whole interview period it’s wonderful and if you really enjoy your subject the interviews will be fun as new exciting topics will be discussed.
