Decisions about the application

Everyone knows

I went both of their open days, and I regonise Oxford is a much more developed town and there are lots of things going on in that city. Cambridge is more a quite place with limit entertainment.

I couldnt decide what I want to do. Therefore I thought it is a good idea to do something which is board and Engineering is a popular subject nowadays, challenging.

A college is place where you will have to spend your next three/four years. Thereofore I prefer a college which looks ”new” and have nice room rather than just because they are famous but have old buildings(like Pembroke)!!

Preparation

yes

I had a mock interview with the headmaster. It was very important to have a previous interview experience with someone scary to be honest’.’ I did very badly in that interview but it make sure i dont repeat the same mistake in the real one. Also, with help from my physics teacher as well trying to solve some past interview questions

Read a book, i read a book call ‘how stuff work’. Make sure you know your personal statment well. Talk to proplr in your college before the interview. It all helps!!!!!!

The one in LMH went very well and i think i have done well to persuade them I really want to do Engineering. Second one in Brasnose was a disaster…, please dont assume that they are similar!!!! they are not!!!!

Again, they kind of went through your personal statment and ask like ‘what you learn from your working experience?’ They never ask stupid things like why Oxford why your college…do not prepare for those kind of questions, they wont come up!!!! Topics are mostly about maths and physics.

Technical questions most of the times, for example i was ask how a wind turbine work, lots of intergration (but they always apply to phyics though). But sometimes they ask me to tell them a recent topic i am learning in maths and discuss.

Suits,, dont wear something odd. But have to give thye a good impression. Black suit, white shirt, red tie is a good idea
