Decisions about the application

The usual, its the best, easier to get a job blah blah blah!!!!!!!!

Cambridge is world class unlike oxford!!!!!! also smaller and intimate, not a BIG scarey city!!

It’s the smallest, probably easier to make friends, seemed friendly. all the tutors etc. also seemed very nice.

Preparation

yes

Yeah i had a mock interview, was not that hepful because it was not like the real thing. but it does help the nerves if you have been in that situation before.

Nope not really, just to show enthusiasm and a passion for your subject!!

Interview

no

yes

Yeah, 3 essays. i chose the best ones that were re-written to get rid of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. i strongly advocate getting a teacher to help you re-write.

yes

One……………did no prep. it was just a 2 law swith some imaginary cases and you are asked if the law is broken. you cant really prepare……..i thought i had messed it up.

Well i had two, one with the director of studies and the other was with the admissions tutor and the other law fellow.
the first one was ok, we did not even discuss law it was quite strange. it was really just a general chat about my ambitions, my school, what i read, and we also discussed the telegraph!!!! it was great really nice and relaxing. i left feeling quite cherrful, but the next interview wiped teh smile off my face!!!!!
i was sooooooooo scared they were horrible i could not answer anything they asked me some legal reasoning stuff etc. all rubbish about 3 men in a boat that kind of thing! i mumbled, was soooo awful. i then went home and cried for ages i thought i had really messed it up.

I was asked about osama bin laden and what they should do with him if he is caught!! if there are 3 men in a boat, they are stranded with enough water for 2, 2 of the men throw the other over………..is it murder!??? also asked about those siamese twins. stuff about pinochet and a comparasism of him and maggie thatcher…………hello what the hell do you say to that………i was soooooo lost. some stuff about northern ireland!

A suit, shirt, high heels…….i looked very smart. it was all very formal…….i suggest you dress up……..everyone was.

Impressions

Peterhouse……… fantastic, nice and small. very friendlt and traditional.

Room was huge, really nice….like a hotel!

Excellent

Very nice and filling.

Very friendly………a bit intimadating at first.

Saw none, interview was after term had finished.

Final stage

I was sooooooooooooooooooooooo happy.told everyone, went out and got utterly hammered!

Looking back

Yes, was worth it, best to try you never know what will happen.

Read the times law supplement. Look up what your director of studies is interested in and read up on it. Keep up with current affairs.
