Am currently waiting for a reply as to whether i can use Politics (which i took a year early) and critical thinking in my offer.
Decisions about the application
Looked around and loved it!!
Preferred Cambridge but only slightly (loved them both) but Oxford was about 1.5 hrs closer to home and took approx 8 people per college for my subject whereas Cambridge only took approx 3.
Fave subject at college and couldnt think of any other subject that i wanted to do!!!
I find law interesting and knew it would help me in the future. Also a possibility that i may want to take further qualifications and become a solicitor.
Loved Hertford and Magdalene when i looked around but was put off Magdalene because of its reputation for having loads more applicants than anywhere else!! Hertford was a lovely size, location, had accomodation for all 3 years and a good meal plan system. It ticked all the boxes! Plus its gorgeous!
Had a mock interview but it didnt help me as the actual interview was nothing like that!!!
For law there is nothing that you can do to prepare! It is all questions based on an extract which you had half an hour to read before hand. There were no questions about my personal statement or why i wanted to do law- thankfully, i think thats a horrible question!
LNAT vwhich i thought went really badly (especially the essay!) but obviously not too bad so yay!
It is so hard to trell. Everyone there seemed really equal and there werfe no obvious frontrunners. The interviewers gave no feedback at all, just sat there giving each other looks that were really hard to interpret!
I was interviewed on extracts about euthanasia and conjoined twins and then my extra interview (still with Hertford) was on whether judges should follow precedent.
Things like. What is the diffetrence between Euthanasia and Assissted suicide? And then But what if this happened? and what about this situation? etc etc
jeans!! But i was unusual. They say where what you want and that is so true! I wore jeans and a smart top and felt fine! The interviewers wore jeans and woolly jumpers so i definatly didnt feel out of place.
lovely and not at all imposing.
really nice but i was in Abingdon House, second year accomodation about 15mins away. Very Clean and spacious, lots of cupboard space!
average, 2 choices for each day.
friendly and very intelligent!
helpful and friendly. The other interviewees were lovely and we all exchanged facebooks etc and have kept in touch!
NERVOUS- checked the post obsessively
Screamed and cried! Hugged everone!
Use ‘The Student Room’ to ask for advice etc- its really good!
