Decisions about the application

Loved oxford which is why i applied tehre over cambridge and also oxford will definitely be a challenge which i like

as above

i love maths – always thought id do it

knew people already there ( and most rooms have en-suite )
met a tutor who would interview me before and was impressed

little – if i did step qu.s or other harder maths which i wasnt sure about i asked teachers for help

look at past papers for oxford admissions test – aea maths is v similar to this – also step papers

the test went well so i was confident about this – this i thought was the easiest thing to prepare for

they went well although one was with a computer scientist which wasnt great but it didnt matter too much apparently so that was lucky

at new college everyone who applies for maths has 3 interviews one on one. couldnt really prepare directly for them. colleges differed greatly with qu.s – some even asked applied maths which i didnt think they could and some were easier to prepare for i think

the first had some mathsy puzzles a bit of everything really. the second was very specific – lots to do with pure maths which i liked .
second college was pembroke. had a whole booklet of qu.s and asked me what type of maths i liked and picked random qu.s out of the booklet

smart skirt with top and shirt and flattish shoes (with sparkly heels lol)

my room was massive but slopey though i was told it wasnt ussed anymore. apparently all 1st years get en-suites

yes each dinner was a 3 course dinner which was ok sometimes quite nice

friendly but never gave anything away about how you were doing

seemed v friendly

Final stage

went to new zealand day after they ended so i forgot it for a bit but only had 6 days to wait so wasnt too bad

a letter was sent but i was told over the phone in nz by a family friend. was very nerve-wracking but v relieved that i could then enjoy my hols

Looking back

yes of course

if you’re extremely passionate about your subject go for it
