Decisions about the application

Joint Maths/Comp. Sci is more evenly split at Oxford.

I like both.

Maths – past papers available online.

Fairly enjoyable.

We were given a sheet of questions the day before. The first interview involved going through and expanding upon my answers to these.

Various puzzles. Details about my personal statement.

Jeans and a jumper. It was cold and mathematicians shouldn’t be too smart.

Impressions

It has a rather impressive lake and a lot of ducks.

The room I stayed in was decent.

Slightly school-dinnerish but there was plenty of it.

Friendly and clear.

Approachable and helpful.

Final stage

I didn’t have much of a clue how I had done compared to everybody else, so I didn’t bother to worry about it at all.

Parents were happy.

Looking back

I suppose so; the process wasn’t really any more horrific than for any other university which requires an interview.

Don’t worry about whether you get in or not; it’s just another university. And don’t assume anything until you know for sure.
