Decisions about the application

I liked the way the medical programme is conducted. They put great emphasis in the medical sciences aspect..

I have a brother in Cambridge, and I thought that if I went to cambridge, I would not be too lonely living in a foreign country

I’ve always wanted to be a doctor/researcher

I wasn’t sure of the age limit to study in cambridge, cause I’ll be 18 only late this year(2006). I thought that, if I were to be underaged and require a Guardian/family member to live with me, I’d at least have a brother in Corpus whom I can stay with

Do your research on the colleges. If you can, visit the university open days.

BMAT was rather tough, and my score wasn’t fantastic.

If you’re from Malaysia and have entered kuiz sains nasional or any other maths/science quizes, and have done well in them, the scientific paper shouldn’t be too tough for you.

The interview was good. The interviewer was nice, and he sort of tried to help me to calm myself down before actually ‘starting’ the interview. He also gave lots of hints to the questions he gave.

As there was only one interview, and it lasted less than 20 minutes, we only discussed a certain aspect for a short while. The scientific questions were mixed with personal questions.

I was asked to explain the membrane (biphospholipid layer) and also what would I do to prove that it really is that.

I was also asked bout my school trip to Manchester, and my opinion on the trip, etc..

I wore a blue polo shirt and black slacks.

I went to the interview with my mum, and there was no way she’d let me wear jeans to the interview!

Final stage

I was on holiday after my AS exams during that time. So, I didn’t really know that results would be out soon, since college was out.

I was, however dissapointed and nervous after finding out that I was pooled from Corpus!!

I was very excited when I received an email from Emma regarding decision from the pool. I was shaking when I opended the attachment with my conditional offer.
I received my conditional offer in the mail about 3-4 days after that.

Looking back

I would definitely apply. It was a hectic half a year, with the ps writing and filling in all those forms. But it was all well worth it.

Just be yourself. Be honest during interviews and in your application forms.
