Decisions about the application

To see if i could get in! so i didn’t look back and regret bot trying, plus it’d be a fantastic way to spend 3-5yrs of my life

Preferred the atmosphere and course
Not really sure

It’s beautiful, unpretentious but still has the quirks and traditions, and the people are friendly. When i visited on an open day it felt like somewhere i could call home. offers accomodation for 3 yrs, central, good for sport and music

Preparation

yes

not really, had a mock interview, and they ran some extension lessons but they were things of general interest rather than ‘oxbridge prep’

For interview: relax, make sure yu’re up to date on science and try to practise talking about yourself and thinkng logically around subjects

Interview

yes

BMAT in november, brushed up on my GCSE physics because i don’t take it at A level

no

no

I had 2, a general one and a subject one, both quite informal but challenging. The interviewers were friendly but serious.

What is science? Tell about a time you’ve felt proud. Tell me about a time you’ve stuggled with something and how that made you feel. What did you learn from your work experience? What difficulties does a doctor face? How do you balance your work and other interests? What is science? (again) Tell me about this bone. What determines how tall we grow? How does bone form? Why, when you stare at something that’s red and green, are the colours reversed when you then look at a white background?

Fitted beige skirt, shirt, boots and pretty tights. I felt smart and capable, i didn’t wasnt to wear a suit.

Impressions

Good choice…but the tea at breakfast wasn’t great!

Friendly, inteesting, prepared to engage with what you were saying

Nice, ‘normal’

Final stage

My dad brought it to me in bed, i wasn’t really awake but when i opened it i read it and then i got up! told my mum then read it again to make sure it did give me an offer/was actually my name on it, etc

Looking back

yes…nothing lost however i turns out…and it was great to spend some time there
