Decisions about the application

It sounded like a good idea at the time

Asked my teacher and she said the course was better

looked in prospectus and found lowest applicants to places ratio then went to open day, it looked all right.

1 mock interview and i did the test on the internet

make sure you know your subjects at gcse and a level well as they may ask you somethin from this and take you further. just be yourself, smile and be confident 😉

yes but you can’t really prepare. i did the test on the internet, but still… you only need gcse knowledge and it asks you to apply this to different situations. and if you get 50% its supposed to be good

had 2 on monday i with a scientist and i with a surgeon, on tuesday i had another one with a scientist and then on wednesday had a pool interview with a panel of four people (all the rest were with 1 person)

in my first i had to devise an experiment to see if Na + ions could pass through the plasma membrane of a brain cell. had no idea but she talked me through it. In the second i got asked general qns about personal statement and work experience. in my third i had to explain what a hormone was and how it initated a response in a cell. talked about receptors and endocytosis, so like A level biology. in my pool interview i got asked more qns one about chemical equilibria one about the eyes and one about a graph.

a suit with a blouse, this is what i wear to skool and it looked good

Lady Margaret Hall, well it looked pretty in the prospectus.

tiny and i cant live without an en suite which i did not have!

Edible but not great

as always the vegetarian selection wasnt gr8

they were really nice.

they were real. they werent at all snobbish or anythin they looked like they had a laugh and were quite helpful

Final stage

i opened it and was very surprised.

Looking back

definitely. my decision to apply was totally spur of the minute thing. Never thought i had a slight chance of gettin in, and am now a lot more confident about interviews in general.

id say go 4 it, u never no till u try. be yourself and believe in yourself thats really important cos i was never confident in myself even though i was an able candidate. they want people who will make great scientists and wicked doctors so be positive!
