Decisions about the application

The prestige and satisfaction.

I found Oxford’s Medicine course much more appealing.

I went on an open day – it was absolutely beautiful.

Preparation

no

Not at all, nobody had applied to Oxbridge for 3 years.

Read newspaper articles related to the latest topics regarding Medicine.

Interview

no

no

yes

30 minute exam, where I performed “averagely”.

On the first day of interviews we were interviewed by 3 tutors.

What are your views on abortion and euthanasia? What would you do in <…> emergency situations? Would you be able to cope with unforseen circumstances as a doctor…?

Normal clothes – I was most comfortable in these.

Impressions

Some people were somewhat arrogant, this was counterbalanced by the beautiful surroundings.

Old fashioned, wealth evident, beautiful.

Edible but not great

We were given maps saying where they were so it was easy to find them.

As said, many were somewhat arrogant and pompous.

Final stage

Admittedly I cried, but 2 days later was able to get over it… or so I thought. Unfortunately my ability to deal with the rejection was not shared by my headteacher, resulting in a media frenzy!!

Looking back

Certainly not, as the media spotlight was certainly not beneficial regarding my studies – I got rid of the TV for a month so that I could revise without hassle.
