Decisions about the application

Oxford is the only place where I could start a language from scratch and learn it to the same standard as my first language, rather then minor/major.

Oxford is known to be better for humanities and is closer to london.

I like languages and I wanted to learn a new language.

Lincoln is very beautiful and is literary on the high street.

Preparation

yes

My teacher gave me a past paper for the admissions exam and marked it.

Interview

no

yes

yes

I had 6 interviews in four different colleges. I thought it was very hard to tell whether they had gone good or bad because the tutors where emotionless to anything I said!

Very tiring.

WHat’s the point in studying languages if everybody can speak english?. Is literature important?.

Smart, black trousers and jumper with shirt collar.

Impressions

Very friendly, supporting and student helpers gave me a lot of advice.

Big room, no ensuite but very nice and warm.

Brilliant apparently the best food in oxford.

All very different.

Lovely.

Final stage

Very nervous.

My hands trembled when I opened the letter but one of the students told me it would say ‘we are pleased’, which it did so i didnt even have to read the whole thing and then i screamed.

Looking back

of course.

Read, read and read before your interview and don’t be scared to ask questions if you didn’t understand something, it’s much better to ask they won’t hold it against you.
