Details about the offer
Had an offer from Durham (which I loved for physics, however unfortunately I didnt get into the college I liked, and it just seemed that my job opportunities would be greater with a natsci degree
Decisions about the application
Because I liked the natsci course.
Cambridge does natsci.
Because it allowed me to pursue my interests in chemistry alongside those of physics and mathematics in my first year
Because it was near the science sight, and it was just amazing when I first stepped into it….just seemed like the place I would like to spend time at. In addition the people there seemed very friendly 🙂
Practise interviews and some interview style questions
There really isnt that much you can do, my interview was very different to my preparation ones
Relaxed and enjoyable, slightly easier going than I had expected, although I still managed to make a fool of myself due to my complete lack of knowledge about electromagnetism in my physics interview
Chemistry: some rates of reaction stuff and some materials things
Physics: electromagnetism (d’oh), electrical circuits
trousers, shirt, no socks or shoes….
Seemed the nicest one 🙂
There was a free lunch for anyone who wanted one at interview if booked in advance
Very friendly and interesting
Talkative and easy to communicate with, good fun to be around
Nervous to the extreme, went through phases where I thought I had got in and when i was sure I hadnt, however was slightly relieved that I had my offer from durham
I went back to sleep – had had a reeeeeeally late an alcoholic night the night before. Was overjoyed, but it didnt (and never really did) sink in
Yes, definately, just going through the admissions procedure was worth it, I learnt a lot about my subject and became sure it was what I wanted to study 🙂
If in doubt, apply, even if you dont rate your chances, it doesnt matter, I didnt rate my chances either, and even if I hadnt got in I would still have been glad of the experience. If you donbt take the risk, you cant win.
And finally good luck everyone 🙂
