Decisions about the application

The tutorial system really appealed to me, as opposed to the more impersonal US system.

Oxford offered PPE, Cambridge didn’t.

My primary interest is Economics, but I chose PPE to add a little variety to my course with some interesting subjects.

I heard Lincoln had great food. I kid you not. I can’t cook, so hall food is about all I’m going to get.

Interview

no

yes

I had to submit 2 pieces of written work.

no

The interview was tough, and I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to get the offer. I recall staring at the floor a lot.

It’s quite important to keep on your feet during the interview and not cling on to one perspective too much. Be adaptable.

Honestly, I can’t really remember. I do remember that it was extremely difficult.

A collared T shirt and khakis. I decided to opt for a mix of comfort and presentability.

Impressions

Lincoln was a nice if small college, and quite central.

Heard only by word of mouth that it was good.

Final stage

Rather nervous.

I think I shouted the house down.

Looking back

Of course.

Show interest. That’s the most vital thing.
