Decisions about the application

Oxford do PPE.

PPE is an excellent course to study if you are interested in current affairs and the wider world around you.

Preparation

yes

Mock Interviews by teachers and extra classes every week.

Interview

yes

TSA is very important for applying for PPE, do some Critical Thinking past papers to get better at the multiple choice questions.

no

no

Two interviews, one on economics (4 interviewers) and one on politics/philosophy (2 interviewers).

In each interview we were given some questions or a passage 20 minutes before the interview to prepare.

Asked about the questions/passage. In the case of economics it was game theory. With politics/philosophy we had a discussion on the passage in relation to politics (about jingoism) and then talked through an informal logic problem.

Shirt and jumper – did not want to feel over dressed. Just wear what you want, some wore suits and didn’t get in, some didn’t wear suits and got in, makes no difference.

Impressions

Friendly, a number of activities like watching movies were put on by the JCR.

Final stage

Letter.
