Decisions about the application

I applied because of Oxford’s reputation and because the learning is conducted in smaller groups than most universities. Also the college system really suits me

The cambridge course was not close to what i wanted, and oxford is a bigger city with a reputation for a better nightlife

Suited what I enjoyed at A-level, had some good flexibility

Worcester had the best grounds, with sports pitches on site which was relly important. Also near all the cubs etc

Preparation

yes

We did Oxbridge extension classes in economics and politics, and I also did subject specific practice interviews

not to try and pedict what comes up too much, nothing i had read or seen in exntension classes came up. Just make sure you know enough to be able to talk on a widevariety of issues. Other than that just relax for the interview and try and come across as someone who would be good to teach.

Interview

yes

The PPE test was nearly impossible to prepare for as the questions were so diverse.

no

no

They were actually suprisingly enjoyable as the tutors really helped me relax, like having a chat on their sofas.

I wore chinos and a shirt. I wanted to be smart but not to wear something like a suit i wouldnt feel so comfortable in

Impressions

They are all really fantastic, but i chose Worcester due to its grounds really. I didn’t take their academic reputations into account, but I didn’t really want to apply to a top academic college to make sure i would fit in

The room I stayed in was wuite well sized and had an en suite, much better than any room i imagined

Very good actually, certainly better than school

Really friendly and approachable

he students there helping were friendly and useful to ask all the questions you wanted. They were also useful in entertaining us once our interviews were done

Final stage

I was really busy during the wait so I didnt really have much time to worry. I would advise going out the night before the letter should come, i did and it meant i didnt really worry until the envelope was in my hands

Looking back

Yes, you have to work a bit harder for the selection process but its not too bad
