Decisions about the application

Oxford was the best uni for my course and i knew that a degree from there would give me a boost after uni.

Cambridge didn’t offer my course and oxford seemed nicer

Architecture was nice, lot of physics students, bout 10m from the main physics building

Preparation

no

Not really. (gave out a few sheets bout applyin to uni)

The Forms: The specific form from oxford is straightforward, make sure that you convey your love of the subject in your personal statement

The interview(s): don’t worry if you can’t remember your physics, they’ll help you, just make sure you’re awake and showing enthusiasm. Keep talking about what you’re thinkin, so they have to interupt you.

Interview

yes

Maths exam, looked over single maths notes, no preparation while i was there. (gets you too stressed out)

Interview with two tutors on first day, maths exam next day with interview another interview in the afternoon, third interview at another college next day.

General physics questions, none about why physics, why college etc.

Jeans and t-shirt, felt comfortable, tutors didn’t care, they just wanted to talk physics!

Impressions

Very friendly, very well looked after buildings a great place to study.

My room was very large, desk, two arm chair things, bedside table, bookshelves and cupboards. other room for clothes (large wardrobe, lots of storage), ensuite shower/toilet facilities.

Excellent

Evening meals were really nice and you were served the meals by catering staff. (waiter service)

Slightly intimidating, but you could really see their love of the subject. They were really trying to get the best out of me.

helpful and always trying to put on some kind of entertainment while you were waiting between interviews.

Final stage

Excited, but realised ive gotta work hard for the three As, will be gutted if i miss out on them.
