yes

choice between castle college durham and imperial, for 4 year MSci in physics. ill probably choose IC.

Decisions about the application

its a good uni

oxford is a nicer place. cambridge doesnt do physics and philosophy.

Higher Education Adviser recommended it.

Preparation

yes

a physics interview with 2 unknown physics teachers. interesting but they didnt ask me any maths questions (huge gap then)

the forms: if you cant do it, then you shouldnt apply

the interview: revise maths. no need to revise any physics/philosophy.

Interview

no

yes

2 x essays. chose 2 history essays (only relevant subject for philosophy really). both were pretty good… one extended one (58/60), one in the June exam (59/60)

no

a suit. looked smart and like i took it seriously!

Impressions

ok. bit small and not as impressive as some others architecturally. cosy though!

my room was good: big, with wardrobe, desk, fridge, poise lamp and bedside table, sink and mirror.

Good

generous servings. they gave us xmas pudding one night 😀

friendly. not rude at all!

just normal people (not intellectual freaks!)

Final stage

not a great deal. i half expected it.

Looking back

yes, for the free food :p

prepare to be rejected as itll probably happen (even if you have 5A grades like me)
