Got rejected by LSE and Cambridge. Can you have anything worse than that?

Decisions about the application

Best instituion in the UK and second in the whole world.
Probably because of the prestige.

Don’t like Oxford for v. silly reason (Because it doesn’t sound all right!)

Only SPS offers a combination of Sociology, Psychology and Politics. Far too many Chinese students study sciences or bussiness-based subjects, SPS would greatly improve my thinking and tackle the fundamental question about human beings.

Stunned by its enviroment and buildings

I had 5 mock interviews overalL!

Read everything! e.g. The Economist, TIME and newspapers. Go through basic questions about SPS e.g. What is psychology?

2 essays (1 influenza and 1 democracy). Each 2500 words long

I didn’t have general interviews

I had 2 interviews (1 interviwer in each interview). Most of the questions were essay-based (She only asked me on influenza but not democracy but some reason)

1. Define totalitarian regime
2. What is the difference between globalisation and westernisation?
3. Why SPS?
4. Why is psychology classified as social sciences?

Others are essay and persona statement-related

Suit. I thought I looked pretty smart

Very beautiful enviroment

My room is pretty room but tidy!

Edible but not great.

One was in his room before I came. And one I came before her!

Quite a lot of them left the college because of the Christmas holidays.

Final stage

Nervous but I thought I would have got in because my interviews went pretty well.

Frustated but didn’t cry. I think my influenza essay and my grades let me down. I pinned all my hopes on getting into Cambridge/

Looking back

Yes but to a different college! Trinity is so competitive!!

Take my advice. Don’t apply to Trinity!!!!!!!! unless you have 7/8 A* in GCSE and all above 90% in your AS subjects.

And finally, good luck!
